Trash to Treasure - Plastic Egg Capsules from vending machine...Minions Toy!

Every evening,  I'll fetch Mei Mei and Jojo after school.
I always park in front of a small grocery stalls.

There was a few toy vending machines placed by the store's owneroutside his store.

Those plastic egg that contain 'secret' toys vending machine
are a big hits during after school time.

The kids will rush out from the school gates...and feed those machine
with their leftover pocket money.

And sadly, after 5 minutes...all the kids left....
and they left behind those all the empty egg shells.

Well, one kids trash is another kids treasure...
Mei Mei and Jojo enjoy collecting those colorful shells.
They kept all sort of little items in it...earrings, rings, eraser,
and Mei Mei even have one specially for her fallen tooth!

Today, when seeing my kids playing with the little shells...
Something popped into my mind.

It just took us few minutes to make some of them into these....

I guess, everyone is familiar with minion in blue overalls...
the pink one is "Mrs Minions"...specially initiated by Mei Mei...
(for Mei Mei...everything is better in pink!)

Ok...here's the tutorial...

These are basically what we used.
Some white buttons, colorful rhinestones, plastic eggs capsules,
a black sharpie pen and some glue too.

We start by making the eyes with the white buttons and black rhinestones.

We highlight the side of the button as a frame.

Then just glue the eyes onto the yellow shell.

We used some leftover felt scrap for the
google strap.

Draw a smiling face.

We used some matching color rhinestone
on the side to make it look like the shoulder straps.

And here are the brand new minions family...

Well, we did have a fun time making them...
Hope you will try it too!

Have fun and keep crafting!
Love

  1. These are so cute! I must confessed that I still waste my leftover pocket money on prize vending machines as well.

  6. Hee hee hee! They are the cutest! My favorite part of this story: how you have given Jojo and Mei Mei your love of creative recycling. Now they have TONS more toys and lots more fun than all the other kids who simply throw away these wonderful eggs.
