Meijo's first .....Cross stitch!!!

Jojo found this beautiful works by an Ukranian artis, Forostyuk Inna...from Pinterest.
And she so totally want to try it!!!

Oh dear, I'm not absolutely have proper 'know-how' in cross stitch....what I do know that is all the stitches are suppose to...CROSSED?

And doing crossing those thread on an EGG SHELL???  Hmmm... how am I going to tell my sweetie that we...CAN"T....do it...(I used to tell my girls...there is no CAN't....)

I was repacking all the frozen food I bought from the store when Jojo approached me for this project...
So, with the help of some of the frozen food 'packaging'....
I made a 'short' class for the two eager 'beginners'....

Kid's Cross Stich Kits....in a minutes...

Material
Frozen food packing tray
Skewer
left over yarn
Big plastic needle for kids ( I got this from the sewing kit I bought earlier)

The tray is white and with square pattern...Yay!  This will substitute the actual fabric
and much easier to handle.

Now...the skewer?  To punch hole and 'lead' the beginner where to stitch...

Choose a simple pattern they understand...
I just create whatever came to my mind at the moment...
( I need to prepare lunch...while keep them busy...)

Mark the area with 'cross' ....
hopefully they will know how to 'cross' themselves...

I show them the first step and the little knowledge I know about
how to start...

Now... it's up to them...

They spend 2 morning with this project
(they went to school in the afternoon)

And here is the result...

This one is by Mei Mei

This is Jojo's work.

So, what do you think?  Do they 'pass' for the beginner class?

Have a nice day
and thanks for stop by!

  1. That is fabulous! Really very sophisticated looking - the girls are now absolutely ready for the fabric. (Maybe not the eggs. The eggs are crazzzzy!)

  2. You are a genius! This is perfect to teach cross stitch. My oldest granddaughter is 8 and I know she would be thrilled to do this. Thank you for sharing!
