TP rolls toy Binoculars - easy n cute

Today is Mei Mei arts class again

This week her homework is TP rolls binoculars...

After browsing through Pinterest...

She still not happy with the samples she found...

So, this is her creations after some 'upgrade' from

what she learn from the internets...

She did it within an hour.

Yes, she is very proud of her works

and so am I.

She used some old strings which I salvaged earlier from

old drinking bottle (the green and blue ones)

Cut some flower shape cardboard...for the 'lens'

wrap the lens with large roll of sticky tape / cellophane tapes

to make an 'easy instant ' lens'  glass.

Connect the tp rolls with a empty staples bullets box.

wrap with color paper and decor with washi tapes.

Add to little cute eraser owls to enhance the 'watch out' level.

Love it!

Must do back to school tools - ..Drinking bottle + Sharpener

As a mom, I always have to choose between..

A) A clean house

B) Happy kids

And of course... I believe (B) is a a better choice.

But I can't stand 'messy' house.

So...today...while the little one is doing her favourite pass time activity...coloring

Yes...the little girl understand how her mom would react when seeing

the sharpener waste 'fly' and ' landed' on the freshly mopped floor.

She really did try very hard by holding the sharpening 'inside' the rubbish bin.

Poor thing...she more concentrate in the sharpening process then enjoying the coloring process.

So... something suddenly comes into my mind....

I'm too busy to write down the tutorial...(need to do cleaning....)

Tutorial - Easy Kids Craft - "Tie" Sponge Cat / Bear?

Evey Wednesday, Mei Mei's school have art class.

This morning, her teacher asked the class to bring a list of material to for the art class...

Some rubber bands

A ractangular sponge of any color

some ribbon or lace,

buttons, stickers, anything for decoration

She ran through my stash and took whatever

that interest her.

So, this is what she bought back from school.

we have limited material on hands

2015 Chinese New Year Goat Lantern

Every pre-Chinese New Year,

Jojo's school will ask each student to submit a lantern

made of red packets to hang in the school hall.

As this year is the year of goat / sheep...

we thought we should try something

more fun than making the ordinary Chinese lantern.

Jojo found a very interesting website from Japan which

have tutorial and PDF template to make

a paper model Sheep

With some modification

this is what she came out at last.

After finish the paper model sheep

she added some red packets which pre-cut into

round shape and pasted on the sheep'body'

She also added a pair of 'horn' for the sheep.

Template for making ribbon flower...

Just bought a templates set for easy ribbon flower making.

Check it out...

Use the smallest one for making the top layer.  The 'star' shape is for the second layer.

And the biggest one is for the bottom layer.

Making ribbon flower is really easy and fast now!

Trash to Treasure - Plastic Egg Capsules from vending machine...Minions Toy!

Every evening,  I'll fetch Mei Mei and Jojo after school.
I always park in front of a small grocery stalls.

There was a few toy vending machines placed by the store's owneroutside his store.  

Those plastic egg that contain 'secret' toys vending machine

are a big hits during after school time.

The kids will rush out from the school gates...and feed those machine

with their leftover pocket money.

And sadly, after 5 minutes...all the kids left....
and they left behind those all the empty egg shells.

Well, one kids trash is another kids treasure...

Mei Mei and Jojo enjoy collecting those colorful shells.

They kept all sort of little items in it...earrings, rings, eraser,

and Mei Mei even have one specially for her fallen tooth!

Today, when seeing my kids playing with the little shells...

Something popped into my mind.

It just took us few minutes to make some of them into these....

The Chinese New Year is getting close...

(This year...CNY falls on 10th of Feb 2013)

I'm busy cleaning and clearing the house.

Jojo and Mei Mei are sort of free...

They are running  and playing around the house when I WAS HOUSEKEEPING!!!

and this make me SICK!

So, when I found some packs of old beads...and strays of craft wire...

I remember a nice DIY I saw in the Pinterest...

I think this is beautiful piece of arts.

So, I took a piece of rock and tie up the wire...and pass it to the girls...

This is what they accomplished after I finished cleaning the first and second floor...

(about an hour ....)

My 'pumpkin' project...

Pumpkin seems to fill the pages of Pinterest lately

Jojo and I can't help but to try our hands

to do something related to 'it'.

And we did a minutes DIY today...

I always adore decor in small scale

So, in the beginning, 

we try to source some some baby pumpkin

from local stores and markets...

But...no luck.

And pumpkins are not cheap too..

So, this morning when I was busy filled up the groceries stock in the kitchen

Jojo gave me a big shout when she came into the kitchen.

"MOM!!! PUMPKIN!  BABY PUMPKIN!"

I was thinking "What the ...until I saw what she was pointing at...

Those white garlic I just bought from the market.

Yes, some of them do have the looks of a mini size pumpkin

and with the help of some imagination ... I guess it's possible...

Meijo's first .....Cross stitch!!!

Jojo found this beautiful works by an Ukranian artis, Forostyuk Inna...from Pinterest.  

And she so totally want to try it!!! 

Oh dear, I'm not absolutely have proper 'know-how' in cross stitch....what I do know that is all the stitches are suppose to...CROSSED?

I've been busy 'rolling'...

I came across a very interesting fabric flower pattern

 

and just can't stop figure out how to make it...

So, I continue to make ..and make .... and make some more...

but the result is not yet close to 'satisfactory'

Cactus Pincushion - tutorial

Thanks for visiting again.  Sorry for keep you all waiting for the 'Cactus Pincushion tutorial', but the weather is rather bad lately...I just can't find any a good time with nice natural sunlight to snap the tutorial at my craft station..so, please forgive me for the poor quality of today's tutorial. LoL!

Easy Peasy 'Pudding's Pot'

Hey all, today I'm going to share with you how I made the little pots for my little cactus pin cushions...
The material you will need...of course ..something from the trash...again...

You will need a rubber band, some rags...and a clean empty pudding's cups...or may be you may recycle the medicine cups ...whatever you have on hands ...or in your trash can!

Excuse me...may I have that trash?

My sister in law passed me some paper material and old clothes to send to the recycle center...All the 'trash' are packed nicely...and this non woven bag is to 'giveaway' too!

 As always...my sister in law knows...I love 'trash'... she politely hints me...I may 'keep' any of those 'giveways' if I found them 'useful'.  Yup, you bet I did!  This old non woven bag caught my attention...Can you see what I see?  Well, as the saying 'beauty in the eye of beholders'...The texture of the dark brown part looks so 'pretty' to me... Come see closer...

So, immediately ...I 'Cut n Keep' them...

Easy Puffy Flower - Tutorial

The tutorial for the Puffy flower as I promise earlier.

Material : 

Leftover fabric... (stretchable one would be better)

Needle and thread (don't worry...very simple and easy)

some beads for decoration

Step #1

Cut a 2.5 wide circle...your flower will be half the size of the circle
