Minutes DIY : Old jeans to Pencilcase roll (No sew project)

It's close to the end of school season.
Mei Mei turns "Grumpy" today because she have some trouble
with her coloring pencils.

Well, the original paper case for the color pencil got wore off.
I offer her a small plastic drinking bottle to keep
all her color pencils but her still not happy.
The color pencils are all in various length and size.

However, Mei Mei still  prefer to have her color pencil 'display'
in a proper manner when she used them.

Well, just my luck.
I saw a piece of old corduroy laying nearby,
(actually I plan to reused it for something else)

I cut a piece of fabric from the pants.

cut 2 row of tiny holes along the length

Now, everyone is lining up like a rainbow
Hope you like this impromptu DIY.

Have a nice day and thanks for drop by.

How to keep your cabbage fresh and crunchy for months without fridge!

I love to prepare veggies for dinner.
And weather in fresh market or shopping mall
veggies is always cheaper when you bought in whole or per package quantity.

My family love veggies...but we certainly unable to
finish on whole cabbage in a day.

And when I stored the leftover cabbage in fridge.... it always turn 'soft' and 'sleepy'!

So, this is my solution
In this way, some say by this method, the cabbage can last for 3 months...
I'm not sure about that...but I'm certainly sure it would last for 1 month...because mine did!!!!

Trash to sewing tool - Plastics bottle sewing hoop

I don't prefer using plastic bottle...
but sometimes my hubby would bring a few from office.

Today, I found a new way to 'reuse' the bottle

I cut it cross way into circles

And when I combine two circles together....

Voila!!!  I have a small little sewing hoop!

Thanks for drop by

Pringles Tube to Rotatable Layered Storage Box

Hi! Yup, it's another upcycled project from the stuff most people will throw into the trash can. Recently I saw a lovely project done by my blog friend - Creative Mind

Inspired by Khadija's project, I created this rotatable layered storage box.

Interested?  Well, then scroll down for the step by step instruction...
Step 1 - Cut the tube into layers.
I have mine in 3cm, 3.5cm, 4cm, 5cm and the bottom is about 6cm

Step 2 -  Make a base for each rings (except the bottom one) out of cardboard.

Step 3 - Glue the base on all the ring.
and wrap them with any paper as you wish.
I used some pages from the old yellow page.

Step 4 - Cut straws according to the height of each layer.

Step 5 - Wrap the straw with the same wrapper and glue it
onto the layer.

Step 6 - Use a chopstick...balloon stick..I used a part of a broken hanger here
and slide it into all the little straw tube you have glue onto the side of the tube.
There you have it!  A rotatable layered storage box...

Step 7 - Decorate as you prefer.
I cut of some brown paper for labeling purpose...
but yet to decide should I use it as a jewellery box or for my sewing stuffs...
What do you think?  How would you make use of this layered box?

Happy Trying!

A pallet in the laundry?

Hi, again...

Yes, I am still busy..busy..busy with the housekeeping job around the house.  Today, I'm in the laundry area.  I have a very small laundry area at the back of my house.  How small?...Hmm..I'll say too small to fit in a single bed!!!   Yes....That's small.

Actually, it's not too bad..but recently after I bought in a small pallet there...(I reused some of the wood from the pallet for my entryway-redo-project ... now it's seem to be a bit eyesore at the laundry, but I would like to keep it as the wood may become useful for the next 'whatever' impromptu DIY project.

So, I use some 'S' hook to hang the pallet at an empty wall there...right at the window of the bathroom.  I don't want to use nails as all my laundry walls already been furnished with tiles so 'S' hook will be the best alternative for FAST, EASY and REMOVABLE.

Once the pallet was up...I soon realized that it could be very useful.  See?

I was overjoyed!!! Just what I need, a place to hang all
my 'recyclable materials' after wash..socks..clothes pin..
hangers...and I love the lowest part of it..just good
for hanging washed door mats.  Love it!

Hmm... So, no harm to add some more love on it...

A sweet sign for the pallet!
A pot of mints to freshen up the place

Some labels
This basket is 'specially' made for my hubby...

The girls hang up their stuffs after 'pool party' yesterday!

Need some moooooore convincing project
about pallet?

Check out this..

Now...I start to 'hunt' for pallets on road side...

So, have you re purposed or up-cycled something lately?

Hope this project will inspire you

A gift from Bangkok

Hi! Love to see you all again.

Recently I received a gift from my little sister from her trip to Bangkok. It's a small frame of little metal ornaments.  All four of them.

A cute elephant, Siamese believe elephant with trunk upward brings good luck!

 A yacht for smooth sailing

Another cute elephant

A dragon symbol of wisdom, strength and a good feng shui ornament
to place at the left wing of the house

Hmm... where to put???  Living room...

 Stair case...

A little side attractions...these are some frame up
I did when I just moved in.. the picture printout
from home printer and paste on a scrap book paper

At last...I remember the two frames I got from
a charity buy.  I remove the pictures, keep only the frames
and the glass panels... paste the little frames onto
the glass with glue gun....

There!  All done... Hope all the luck and prosperity
are on their way to my lovely home!!!

Love always,
PC
