How to help your children find they talent?

I know this is a very serious question
This are one of the many questions that running through my mind
whenever I unable to sleep at night

Laying on my bed...having my kids in my arms
Looking at the stars and wondering
how to make my kids as bright as the star when they grow up one day!

And of course...I never have a satisfied answer or solution
As a mom...I teach, I guide, I supervise, I pray for them.

And finally...something happened!

2015 Chinese New Year Goat Lantern

Every pre-Chinese New Year,
Jojo's school will ask each student to submit a lantern
made of red packets to hang in the school hall.

As this year is the year of goat / sheep...
we thought we should try something
more fun than making the ordinary Chinese lantern.

Jojo found a very interesting website from Japan which
have tutorial and PDF template to make
a paper model Sheep
here is the link
http://papermodel.jp/eto.html

With some modification
this is what she came out at last.

After finish the paper model sheep
she added some red packets which pre-cut into
round shape and pasted on the sheep'body'
She also added a pair of 'horn' for the sheep.

Just sharing - Never fried your OREO if you really LOVE them!

Last weekend, my lovely niece told me that
she tasted a new snack when she visited
a snack bar after a movie with her friends.

It's "Deep fried Oreo" and according to her
it's absolutely amazing!

My kids love Oreo and I love to try new stuff...

So, this afternoon we tried out that "recipe"
I goggled a little about the how to...
Sound super simple and easy

After few minutes...
The warm crunchy pieces are in front of the kids...

Trip to Finland ...experienced my first 24 hours of sunlight!

Sorry,
I've been away...

My hubby company send him to a short business trip to Oulu, Finland recently.
Never in my life would I thought of going to this beautiful land.

I was just showing my hubby regarding an igloo hotel in north part of Finland
where you can lay down on your bed and watch the Aurora during the winter.
(saw it in Pinterest)

The hotel rates is not to expensive...but travelling from Penang Island to Finland
may takes about 24 hours ++ and 3 transit in the airport.
These will 'kill' any holiday mood!

And suddenly... My hubby replied
"Dear, the company wants me to visit a plant there this Monday!'

So...here we go...

The best and cheapest therapy for pressure ...

As you can see...
I 'lost' and 'loose' again...
(lost from blogging...loose , get beaten by pressure from life)

Life is so blue and the pressure is
getting from bad to worst.

The problem I have is nothing different from any
mom and wife and daughter in the world...

As a mom... there are so many things I want to teach my kids,
but sometimes... they have to make they own mistakes...
which repeated my mistake...in order to grow and understand.
and I can only “wait and see"
This is pretty sad!

As a wife
We must always give and take
and most of the time
We just keep giving and
forgot about our worth.

As a daughter...
We started to feel and see
what our mom told us when we were young
but we are too busy to bother...
Now, we are old...and our parents even older...
We turn into them and they turn into..."someone else"!

Today
I have a small chat with Jojo's classmate's mom...
We don't really know each other
and we never talk before

It's all started with a weak smile
and within seconds
we talked like we have known for years...

Telling each others our frustration and problems
begin with the kids and their school works
and soon into family and life.

The chat last for 20 minutes
but
after that

It's seem "lift away" my frustration and problems...
I feel so "light" in my heart like never before
All my "heart weight" seems gone...

Not because I figure out how to solve my problems...
But sometimes
It just "delightful"...
just to find out...
there are someone just like yourself...
out there...
or every where...
not too far...
by your side...

Don't you think?

When you are blue...
Just talk to someone!
It's really work!

Step by step from stone to gem!!! Shocking truth! Deadly fake gem!

My close friend forward this message to me!
So shocking but true.

Never buy gem stones / jade when you are on tour in Chixx
This is how they turn ordinary priceless stones into valuables jades and emeralds
by using some unknown hazardous chemical!
See for yourself!

#1 Plain natural stone

#2
Soak in unknown hazardous chemical for 6 months!

#3  After 6 months,
the stones are taken out from the chemical and washed

#4
"Hand painted"
In order every piece with different 'pattern'

#5
Placed into high pressure machine to stabilized the 'gem' color and painted pattern!

#6
The result

#7
Ready for sold!
This 'gem' bangles are sold for RMB70,000 ~ 80,000!!!

Some people really 'professional' when comes to making 'faux' items!

Take care

Do you have this when you were kids?

When I was a kid, I have Lego blocked and teddy bear...but this DIY 'gun' is the best toy my dad ever made for me...(not mentioning the big kite...the rubber band skipping rope...etc)

This is the best 'weapon' for the combat games....and when my big brother and I watched the "Lone Ranger.....( I mean the black and white version!  The one which keep on repeating...Hi Ho...Silver...it took me sometimes...what he actually means...I was too young to understand!).

This is a very popular toy in my childhood time...Just wondering ...do you have the same thing during your childhood....Our mom and dad may not have 'pinterest' or 'facebook' at that moment...but all mom and dad....have their 'mind' ....connected world wide...Right?

Now, I need to fabricate one of these my hubby coming up birthday...Shh...don't tell him...He will gone nuts to be able to 'reunion' with his old love!

Smile and stay calm.

(I know is hard to do...that's why we need to tell ourselves REPEATLY...Everyday!)

Love and kisses,

Mei Mei first trip to Cameron Highland

Last weekend, Mei Mei joined her uncle to Cameron Highland.
This is her first outing without me or daddy,
and her first trip to this beautiful highland.

Her dear aunt lend Mei Mei her Iphone, so she can capture 'her journey'.

And these are some of her brilliant 'captures'...

They reached the hill in the evening, this is the view from
the place they spend a night.

Mother's Day Gift : A small gift with lots of thought...

As always...I started to hunt for the 'perfect' gift months earlier...
Well, I didn't managed to find any 'perfect' one yet...but I did found this lovely...
A bottle of nail polish of my mom favorite color.

A bit coral, clear and peachy...
(That's the way she always describe it!)

This is no THE Mother' Day gift...
but I know she would be glad to have it!

I was actually planed to pass to her today...
No wrapping... just in the same paper bag the store wrapped for me when I bought it...

Then, I saw Mich's post about "Faux Antique Perfume Bottles"
That's really tickles my fingers to do something with the little bottle.

Here is what I use...
Glue gun, some lace, some pearl string, a little ribbon flower I made earlier
(link here for the ribbon flower tutorial) and double side tape.

I started with wrapping the side of the bottle with the double side tape
Cut a small piece of lace just enough to wrap it around the side of the bottle

First day at school...

Oh, dear.  I've been missing for quite sometimes.  Please forgive me...but if you happened to be a mom...especially and SAHM...you will definitely understand.  School holidays ...Christmas holidays...New Year holidays....are meant for kids...teenagers...singles...dads...but definitely not for moms...those are the busiest moments of the whole years.  Because at those days...the cooking...washing...cleaning...are EVEN MORE and NEVER ENDS!!!

So, wish you all a great new year....2013!!! Which ends all the 'end of the world' stories!!!..  Hmm, wonder what 'date' will they come up next?

So, what 'BIG' happening at my corner of the world?  Well, it definitely is "BACK TO SCHOOL"!

This year, Mei Mei turns 7 years old and she is joining Jojo
to attend primary school.  Jojo is in Primary Yr 3 this year.

Moving...Things to throw...Memories to keep...

Recent weekend, we went back to my in-law house.  My in-law is moving away from they 50 years old house.  The house where my in-law met and fall in love...get marry and settle down...The house where my hubby and his two elder brothers were born.

There were so many things to pack, to bring to new place, and sadly...there are also so many sentimental stuffs they have to release or give away, because it wouldn't fit into the new place.

Finding pleasure in daily routine...

If you were wondering where I've been...

Well, I'm still here...

Yes, I'm 100% here in front of the screen...

Everyday...er..or..maybe not everyday...

But, I'm here as often as I can.

Why I stop publish my DIY project?

No, I didn't stop.

It just I didn't 'make' anything

that worth to share ...not yet.

And... cook, wash, clean, nag as usual...

But, yesterday..something 'different' happened...

I called it a 'SIGN'.

My dear niece found this when she was helping to prepare some beansprout for lunch...

Visit by 4 sisters

I have been so busy lately...2 school exams ( Mei Mei & Jojo ), flu (Jojo), coughing (Mei Mei), a blocked kitchen sink, a VIP visit (my mother in law and her 3 sisters from Singapore came over for a week....), cooking, washing...painting...and most recent....seriously addicted to PINTEREST .... I am so sorry for not posting anything crafty recently...Sorry for been such a bad blog friend.  I did check out all your new post..but just out of good words to inspire you!

Maybe I should share with you my last week routine when my MIL (mother in law) and her sisters are here.  They are really nice people, I really look forward for their visit and I know this visit means so much to my MIL.  My MIL stayed in Malaysia after married and hardly went back to Singapore, I know she miss her family so much.  My MIL is a very nice lady and my best mom too!  She treat me like her daughter the first day I meet her.  I visit all her sisters in Singapore too, and they are as sweet and kind as my MIL.  Now, I have the chance to repay they kindness.

So, as an typical Asian daughter in law, I wish to "perform" the very best when these VIP came over.  I clean and re-organized the whole house a week before their arrival, make sure everything is 'friendly' for them (safety, cleanliness, etc) and the food! (The elder sister have history of cancer..., the second is my MIL - have problem with her ankle, cannot walk or stand too long; the third sister is a vegan and maintain very healthy no oil, no salt, no sugar diet and finally the youngest sister is 'everything is ok' person!
I spend days looking for recipe which able to suite everyone.  Add in beds in the guest room, so they all can share the same room and chat the whole night as long as they wish.  Planning relaxing places and activities that might interest them but not to tiring.  And get a few nice old movies to fill they free time in between.
When they are here...I make sure I wake up the earliest to prepare some hot breakfast for them...(I don't want them to trouble themselves in the kitchen) and stay up a bit later so I can tidy up the living room, do the laundry and mop the floor - So, the next morning, everything will look nice and pleasant.  I just want them to have a 'perfect' rest time.

I am exhausted but I really do enjoy the time when they are here, the saddest time is when they say good bye.  The elder sister said, "We are very old already and each with own illness...this would most probably be our LAST visit... do take care of your MIL and try to bring her to Singapore when you free!"  Oh dear! I always hate say good bye... and seeing they shadow vanished into the airport gate and thinking of the 'LAST' word make my heart break!

May God Bless and comfort my elderly parents.

May He ease their pain (both physical and mental) and
comfort them that they have lived a good and productive life.

That they have touched and helped so many they know

and do not know by their kind hearts and deeds.

May He ease and comfort them and assist them
to deal with those who do not show the respect they so richly deserve
May He teach those persons to value and appreciate their elders
and those things that are truly important.
May He Bless and give my family (and my parent's friends),
the wisdom and strength to care for and protect them from harm.

(I think I'm going to call my parents tonight
and invite them over for a weekend!)

Logos Hope...The floating book fair!

Logos Hope, the world's largest floating book fair has docked at Penang port and has been attracting a array of tourists and visitors from all over the country - including the kids and the rest of the family!

We went there after lunch hour...it's a weekend and we were caught in a long queue at the police register counter and another queue for at the tickets counter (there was a row of about 50 peoples in front us)!
Luckily we don't really waste a lot of time queue... So, I steal some times for photo shooting...

I visited Logos earlier during her last visit in Penang - long ago before I have Jojo and Mei Mei.
I always love book fair and and a book fair on ship!  Well, you don't have that everyday don't you! - Now, this is a must see!

An old port ...

During the queue...

On the way...

Ticket counter

The admission fee  is RM1.00 and free for children under 12 years old.

A quote on the wall near the entrance...

Sample of the room in the ship...tiny but nice

Wall of history

Some interesting item on display...

Wow!  Look at the crowd.
The price of the book range from RM8 to RM80.

There's a children corner to pass their time while waiting
for their parents 'shopping'.

Mei Mei loves the little piano at the cafe area...
After that visit..she told me she change her ambition
from pet shop owner to "A Big Ship Owner".  Huh?

Logos Hope sails around the world.  Have you ever visit her?

See you

An evening at the beach...

We went to the beach last weekend.
Our house is quite close to the beach, about 5 minutes drive.

Mei Mei and Jo Jo were shouting when our car get close to the beach.
There was a huge Panda kite welcome them on the field beside the beach!

Another fascinating kite were there too!

The girls enjoy playing and running wild!

We spotted a group of Indians ladies digging up something...

Look!  Inside their basket!  They planned to have this for their dinner!

Jo Jo tried her hand to dig up some too!  Her first 'victim'.
There are plenty of them, Mei Mei and Jo Jo caught a handful of them...
Later, we returned them to the sea when we are leaving.

A last shoot of the beautiful sky before we head for home!
