Old Jean New Bag...

Jojo always has 2 bags for school
One backpack for the text and stationeries
and one tote for the exercise books.

The totally weight plus the water bottle ....
I think it heavier than Mei Mei body weight

Anyway...last week Jojo complaint about her shoulder getting painful
caused by the shoulder straps of the tote bag
(it's a non woven tote bag given by the school)

Well... When I was searching around to buy her a new one...
her sweet daddy throw out a few old jeans from the closet...
they are declared as 'out of measurement' on the waist line...

Just my luck... another great chance for new adventure...
I never sewn a bag before...and this is the perfect chance.

Sorry, I didn't prepare the tutorial...
I've no plan, no paper pattern, no measurement...and just cut and paste and sew by 'heart'...
After an hour ...

This is it...
I 'dismantle' one old jean...
Using the 'trunk' for body and reuse the pockets
At first, I was thinking to use the top part with zip and pocket...
but I guess it will to 'weird' to see Jojo 'wear' her father jean on the shoulder?
I match some blue check cotton for the shoulder strap just to add a little color
I know I should have add some lace or ribbon,
but the school don't welcome something too fancy...
So, I just leave it plain and simple...

Spice up a bit with an old hang tag...
with some stickers for some love...
Yes... Jojo's current favorite cartoon character - The Winx Club

This side I add another pocket I salvage from an old jump suit.
Extra pocket is always useful.

Now, time for school.

See you again.

Have a fabulous day!

  3. Love it PC - great upcycle! My girls are the same - their bags are bigger than them - and then there's their insulated lunch boxes, swimming gear..... certainly builds their muscles!! :)
